UTILITY Shaun Burgoyne will captain the Indigenous All Stars when they take on West Coast in a pre-season match on Friday night at Medibank Stadium in Perth.

Burgoyne, a dual premiership player with Hawthorn and three-time premiership winner, was named captain of the side on Wednesday.

He was voted in as skipper by the Indigenous All Stars squad.

"It's something that I'm very proud of," Burgoyne said at a media conference.

"I grew up playing for an all-indigenous team in Port Lincoln.

"So this game just gives me memories of being a kid again and playing with my family.

"Adam Goodes and Andrew McLeod have been previous captains so to follow in their footsteps it's going to be quite hard but exciting as well.

"I feel very happy and privileged to be captain of this team."

Currently in Perth for the week-long AFL Players’ Indigenous Camp, Burgoyne is one of five Hawks named in the Indigenous All Stars squad for the game alongside Cyril Rioli, Bradley Hill, Jed Anderson and rookie Jermaine Miller-Lewis.

Stars from other clubs have also been named in the squad like Sydney’s Goodes, Port Adelaide’s Chad Wingard and Patrick Ryder, Fremantle’s Stephen Hill and Gold Coast’s Jarrod Harbrow (vice-captain).

Midfielder Chris Masten will captain West Coast.
