Hawthorn will tackle the 2018 season with a familiar looking five-man leadership group.

Jarryd Roughead will remain as captain for his second season, supported by Isaac Smith and Liam Shiels who will continue as joint vice-captains.

Ben Stratton and Jack Gunston will also continue their roles in the leadership group, which was elected via a player vote.

The group remains unchanged from last year with the exception of Luke Hodge and Josh Gibson, who both departed the Hawks at the end of the 2017 season.

Roughead said he was thrilled to once again take on the role of captain and was looking forward to the season getting underway.

“2017 provided some really good learnings for me and I feel like I’ve continued to develop and grow into the role,” said Roughead.

“Captaining the Hawks is a real honour and to be backed in by your teammates for another year is extra special.

“There is a really good feeling amongst the group and we are looking forward to what’s to come in season 2018,” he said.
