Hawks fans could be set to see two of the latest crop of draftees make their debut next season, if the last five years of team selection are anything to go by.

Since the 2013 season, the Hawks have handed 26 draftees their first game, with nine of those players taking the field in their first year at the club at an average of 1.8 a season.

The likes of Daniel Howe, Ryan Burton, Billy Hartung and Jed Anderson have all made their debut with just the single pre-season under their belts, while in 2017 it was James Cousins and Harry Morrison who pulled on the brown and gold at AFL level during their first season on the list.

Of those to debut in their first year, each averages more than three games in their initial season, with the Hawks first selection in this year’s National Draft, James Worpel, appearing the most likely of the recent draftees to play at the highest level in 2018.

The Hawks average 5.2 debutants a year in total since the start of 2013, which opens the door for the likes of Mitchell Lewis, Conor Nash and Oliver Hanrahan to make their first appearance for the club next year.
