A few familiar Hawks faces are set to travel to Launceston this Friday to take part in the Ponting Foundation’s ‘Biggest Game of Cricket’.

The 18-man Hawthorn squad will take on the Kangaroos in the T20 charity match, which will be held at The University of Tasmania Stadium (York Park).

Damien Fleming and John Hastings will join the Hawks outfit to provide some cricketing prowess, and with big names like Jarryd Roughead and Luke Hodge also heading south for the match, the Kangaroos should be shaking in their cricket spikes.

Hawthorn play four games a year at York Park (albeit in a different sport), and boast a dominant winning record. Of their 52 AFL games at the ground, they have posted 41 wins and 11 losses, giving them a winning percentage of 78.85.

North Melbourne, by comparison, have played six and won two, at 33.33%.

The last time they met, (Round 10, 2012), the Hawks posted an impressive 115-point victory – useful information for any Hawk planning a friendly cricket ‘sledge’.

In fact, Hawthorn haven’t suffered a loss at the ground since Round 5, 2002 – 1726 days ago.

Could next Friday’s game see the end of their winning streak?

Well, not if Roughead has anything to do with it.

The forward has returned some of the biggest bags of his career at the venue, taking home six, seven and eight goals on separate occasions. If he can hit half as many sixes this Friday, our newly appointed captain will be a very happy man.

The game is set to kick off at 7pm on Friday 27 January. For ticketing and event information, visit Ricky’s Biggest Game of Cricket.
