Rory Sloane and Scott Pendlebury.

Two of the biggest names in AFL.

Two men that young Hawk Daniel Howe has gone head to head with over the last fortnight.

Last week against the Crows, Howe went to Sloane and nullified the gun Crow’s influence in the Hawks’ upset win, with the reigning All Australian finishing with 23 disposals and very little impact on the match.

On Sunday, Howe set his sights on the Collingwood captain and executed his role to a similar effect, with Pendlebury managing only 21 touches in a quiet game by his lofty standards.

Howe, who collected 26 disposals and eight tackles himself against the Pies, is beginning to feel comfortable matching it with the big names in the clinches.

“It’s been good to find some solid form over the last two weeks after being a bit up and down before that,” Howe said on Sunday.

“We knew we needed to back up a good performance against Adelaide and I think we did that for the most part so today was really good.

“Hopefully, in the back half of the season, I can keep building on that and hopefully the team can also keep churning out wins."
