Alastair Clarkson has called for some "consistency" from his playing group ahead of their Round 8 clash with the Lions.

Addressing the media at the airport before the team departs for Launceston, Clarkson said despite the Hawks showing positive signs in recent weeks, they now need to regain some stability.

"Two of our last three games have been really good," said Clarkson.

"But that's been sandwiched by some really poor application, so that consistency from contest to contest, quarter to quarter and game to game is really important for us."
