4.30pm – It’s a beautiful day on the Gold Coast, and the Hawks are preparing to take on the Suns.

We’re fed up with Owen hanging around (‘0-2’, for those needing context), and we’re ready to part ways. Let’s say goodbye to Owen, and hello to our first win of the season.

Only the Suns, also winless, will not give up the four points without a fight.

We’re going to have a battle on our hands.

4.40pm – First bounce time. We’re ready.

Q1 01:11 – Wow, that was quick. Jack Martin gets Gold Coast’s first.

Settle, it was a lucky shot.

Q1 03:09 – Okay, Gary Ablett gets their second.

Still, no reason to panic just yet.

Q1 05:38 – And there’s Gold Coast’s third.

Boy, this Suns outfit have come out of the blocks fast, meanwhile the Hawks are still like…

Q1 09:21 – Things are going from bad to worse, as Burto cops a Tom Lynch knee to the back and heads for the  sidelines.

Q1 14:30 - Thanks God Poppy. A perfect delivery from his skipper allows the zippy forward to run into an open goal and boot the Hawks’ first.

QT – Well, that was a shock to the system. The Suns have come out firing and lead by a kick at the first break.

We’ve got work to do.

Q2 00:19 - 19 seconds after the siren sounds, Aaron Hall has booted it through the sticks.

Hawks fans:

Q2 05:11  - Something to celebrate as Jaeger O’Meara slots his first goal in the brown and gold. Let’s hope it’s the first of many.

HT: The celebrations are short lived as the Suns pile on the next four goals to head into the main break with a 26-point lead.

Look at the bright side; there’s still a full half of footy to turn things around.

Q3 01:01 –
A Roughy goal to open the quarter. See? Postive thinking. We got dis.

Q3 26:04 – That’s seven goals in a row to the Suns.

We totally don’t ‘got dis’.

Q3 30:33 –
Late goals from Roughy and Burto, could the Hawks still be a chance?

Q3 33:51 – Later goals from Matera and Lynch. Aaaaaaand nope.

3QT -
 Suns with a 9-goal lead.

Q4 32:14 – Brandon Matera kicks his sixth for the evening.

Like, we’re happy for him, but…

FT - That’s a wrap. Hawks go down to the Suns by 86 points.

Now for a seven-day break to gather our thoughts, and prepare to take on Geelong next week.

Yes, it was bad. But just remember; it’s only round 3.

Keep smiling.

We'll just have to put up with Owen another week longer.
