BOX HILL Hawks coach Marco Bello runs through every Hawthorn-listed player's performance in the VFL Hawks' 15-point win against Williamstown on Sunday.

Kaiden Brand

“KB was strong again on the last line of defence, he finished with nine marks – five of which came off the opposition’s boot. He was able to use the footy as well, collecting 20 disposals and effecting some strong, aggressive spoils.”

Ryan Burton

“Ryan played at both ends. He played the first half in the forward line, and then we switched him back in the second half. He kicked 1.1 up forward, and then did a job for us across half back.”

Jack Fitzpatrick

“It was great to have Fitzy out there, making his debut for Box Hill. He finished with nine disposals and six hit-outs, spending time in the ruck and up forward. Fitzy provided a real contest for us deep inside 50 and as a long down the line option. I’m sure he’ll get better as the year goes on.”

Blake Hardwick

“Blake debuted this week for us and similar to Burto, he played the first half back and then we switched him to the forward line. He did a great job at closing down Williamstown’s small forwards, who were dangerous the week before. He then went forward and kicked 1.2 from 15 disposals.”

Kurt Heatherley

“Kurt only played a half of football, he copped a head knock and unfortunately didn’t take part in the second half. Just before half-time he kicked a great goal from outside 50, which got us back within single digits after Williamstown had led by 20 points earlier in the quarter.”

Kieran Lovell

“Kieran didn’t get a heap of the football, like we’re accustomed to. He only had 14 touches, but he finished with 5.1, which was a great outing. He scored from different sources – a mark inside 50, an inside-50 tackle, a crumb inside 50… so that ability to score from different sources was a highlight. He played probably 50-50 between midfield and forward, and we saw some good signs from him up forward.”

Teia Miles

“In a similar vein to last week, Teia played in defence but pushed forward to hit the scoreboard. He kicked two goals last week and one this week. His ability to use the footy and break the lines from our backend helped us to springboard out of defence.”

Jermaine Miller-Lewis

“Jermaine continues to get his hands on the footy in our back half. He had 10 marks, four of which came from opposition kicks. He showed plenty of tenacity and loves to fight defensively to not allow the opposition to get their hands on the footy.”

Jonathan O’Rourke

“Jono was terrific in the heat of the battle at the stoppages, but also with his ability to work and spread away from stoppages. He finished with 25 disposals, including 14 handballs, which shows his work inside at the contest was a key to us getting the ball out. He kicked the first goal of the day, which got us off to a good start."

Marc Pittonet

“Last week Pitto took on three big boys from Sandringham, and this week he had Meese from Williamstown. It was a different battle for him, with Meese being a really strong bodied ruckman. He probably drew even on the day… he only had the six touches, but laid seven tackles, which was great sign of his second efforts around the contest.”

Kade Stewart

“Kade finished with seven tackles again, so that’s two weeks in a row he’s done that. He had 17 disposals and finished with a goal. His workrate, agility and speed to the contest – both attack on the opposition or the ball – is tenacious and has stood out for me in his first two games.”

Dallas Willsmore

“Dallas finished with 28 disposals – 23 kicks and five handballs – and 13 marks. His ability to outwork his opponent and his link-up play from defence into our forward line were highlights. He finished with a great goal, and he’s working defensively as well as offensively. He’s had a great couple of weeks, and no doubt is putting his hand up for a senior debut at some stage this year.”

Brendan Whitecross

“Two weeks in a row now, Whitey’s performed well. On this occasion he found more of the football, having 22 disposals and 11 marks to be a link-up player for us between the arcs. He played predominantly forward, pinch-hitting in the middle, but worked tirelessly up and down the ground.”
