ALASTAIR Clarkson took fan engagement to a new level when he sent an unwitting Hawks fan a selfie.

The four-time premiership coach saw that a Shamrock Cabinet's van had Hawthorn stickers on the back so he decided to take a selfie of himself and send the image through to the mobile number on the side of the van.

Troy Donovan received the text and couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"I am honestly thinking what is this message of someone sending me a picture of my van, then I realised it was Clarko."

"He must have seen the membership stickers on the side of my van, I don't know when I was parked next to him though," Troy told hawthornfc.com.au.

Troy forwarded the image to his brother Sean, who then tweeted it.

"It's been great to get a bit of free publicity out of it, but it's even better that Clarko would take the time to send through a selfie" said Troy.
