BOX HILL Hawks will face a tough start to 2016, coming up against 2015 preliminary finalist Sandringham and premier Williamstown in the opening two rounds.

The Hawks - last year's VFL runners up - kickstart their season on April 9 against the Zebras at Box Hill City Oval, before visiting the Seagulls in Round 2.

Hawthorn's VFL affiliate will take on both the Zebras and Seagulls twice in 2016, and will also play twice against fellow 2015 finalists Werribee and Casey Scorpions.

In Round 16, the Hawks will take on Richmond at Punt Road Oval at 12.30pm, with the match being played before Hawthorn's Round 18 clash against Richmond at the MCG at 3.30pm.

The Hawks will have three games broadcast on Channel 7 in the opening fifteen rounds - Round 2 against Williamstown, Round 6 against Werribee and Round 11 against Geelong.
