Jack Gunston (Hawthorn)

Jack Gunston has been in good touch recently, kicking nine goals in the last two weeks.

Hawthorn’s key forward looks to be spending more time at home inside the Hawks’ forward 50, after having to play further up the field and even in defence at times over the first seven rounds.

With a depleted Fremantle side travelling to Tasmania, Gunston will be eyeing another bag of goals this week.

Billy Hartung (Hawthorn)

Recalled to the side last week, Billy Hartung made the most of his inclusion kicking a goal and collecting 28 disposals at a remarkable 96 per cent efficiency.

His run and dash was vital against the Tigers and Hawthorn fans will be hoping he, Isaac Smith and Bradley Hill can continue to break the lines in the coming weeks.

Liam Shiels (Hawthorn)

Liam Shiels was back to his tackling best against the Tigers, recording his second-highest career tally for one game with a massive 16 tackles.

Shiels said after the game he wanted to focus on bringing his “one-wood” skill after struggling to find the footy since his return to the side from a wrist injury, and he certainly did that.

A continuation of that physicality from Shiels will only be a good thing from a Hawthorn perspective.

Jordan Lewis (Hawthorn)

The acting skipper regained some form against the Tigers last week, collecting 28 disposals, seven clearances and seven tackles in the absence of a couple of Hawthorn’s premier midfielders in Luke Hodge and Sam Mitchell.

With the Hawks blooding some young players at present, the leadership of Jordan Lewis in the middle and around the ground is vital.

Lachie Neale (Fremantle)

Lachie Neale has been in red-hot form over the past three weeks, stepping up in the absence of Nat Fyfe by collecting 33, 35 and 40 disposals in Fremantle’s last three games.

With Neale arguably the Dockers’ go-to midfielder right now, the Hawks will need to keep a close eye on this rising young gun in the middle.
