ALASTAIR Clarkson has emphatically denied that he is going anywhere, saying a new contract to keep him at Hawthorn would be finalised in due course.

Clarkson addressed the issue of signing a new contract at training today, saying his commitment to the club was strong.

"I’m going to be a Hawk. I’m flattered that journalists are interested with what’s happening around my contract – I can’t even remember if I signed the last one," he laughed.

"What I have done is made a commitment to the club – and I don’t back away from commitment."

Although the four-time premiership coach is yet to officially put pen to paper on a new deal, Clarkson said he was comfortable he would re-sign with the club.

"I made a commitment to the club about six weeks ago, and I’m not going anywhere," he said.

"We’ll get to (signing a contract) when we need to. I’m not worried about it and neither is the club – so for all those who think I might be going somewhere, it couldn’t be further from the truth."

Hawthorn has enjoyed one of its most successful eras under Clarkson, reaching the finals in eight of his 11 seasons in charge, playing in five Grand Finals for four premierships.
