From 7 to 29 June 2014, the Queen Victoria Museum & Art Gallery (QVMAG) in Launceston will host a special exhibition in conjunction with Hawthorn Football Club and Launceston City Council.

We are Hawthorn is an exhibition on the history of the club and its place in the ongoing story of the AFL in Tasmania.

Hawthorn Football Club CEO, Stuart Fox, said the club is thrilled to work with QVMAG and Launceston City Council to co-host the We are Hawthorn exhibition, which showcases its wonderful partnership with the people and state of Tasmania.

For the first time, all eleven Premiership cups won by Hawthorn, including the 2013 cup, will be transported out of Victoria and displayed at the QVMAG Museum at Inveresk. The show will also include a wide range of iconic memorabilia and objects that relate to the history of the club, the grand final games and the long list of Tasmanian players.

Twenty eight Tasmanian players have represented Hawthorn in the VFL/ AFL competition, including Hilton Buckney, Peter Hudson and Grant Birchall. The exhibition will highlight the significant role that these players have made to the club through images, objects, sound and video.

Launceston City Council General Manager, Robert Dobrzynski, said not only is Hawthorn a powerhouse within the Australian Football League, as the most successful club in the last 50 years, but they have also been embraced by Tasmanians.

Entry is free.

With the Club's eleven premiership cups on display at the exhibition in Tasmania, that means they will not be back at Waverley Park until July.
