The Hawks and The Salvation Army are calling on Tassie Hawks members to get on board and donate their pre-loved scarves prior to the Hawthorn-Port Adelaide game at Aurora Stadium on Sunday.

Hawthorn Football Club and The Salvation Army launched their partnership last month to help beat the winter chill, with the help of Tassie Hawks members and supporters.

Every year, Hawks members receive a new membership scarf, which means that most have spare scarves in the back of their wardrobe.

Tassie Hawks operations manager, Shayne Stevenson, hit the road and visited the four major cities in Tasmania - Burnie, Devonport, Launceston and Hobart. Members from across the State kindly donated their scarves to the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army will then distribute these scarves through a variety of programs throughout the year in Tasmania.

Each year, The Salvation Army assists more than one million Australians in need. Services and programs are offered across diverse areas such as homelessness, family crisis, emergency relief, addiction and domestic violence.

The ability to assist the most disadvantaged and marginalised members of the community greatly depends on the ongoing support provided to the Salvos by the Australian public.

Donations made to The Salvation Army ensure their centres and programs can continue to operate, allowing them to be responsive to the needs of the people they serve.

Please assist the Salvos by donating loose change to the Tassie Hawks Roadshow, and don’t forget to bring your old scarves to help keep Tasmania’s homeless warm this winter.
