Hawthorn premiership players Brad Sewell and Grant Birchall along with young Queenslander Brendan Whitecross have committed their future to the Club, all re-signing with the Hawks.

Sewell, who has established himself amongst the elite midfielders of the AFL, has committed himself for a further three years to the Club. Whilst Tasmanian-born Birchall, one of the best emerging running-half backs in the league, has also signed for a further three years.

Whitecross, who has played 10 games for the Hawks since debuting in Round 1, 2009, has committed himself for a further two years, which will see the former Zillmere player (QLD) continue his development with the Hawks which has seen him play an important defensive role for Alastair Clarkson’s side this season.

Hawthorn’s General Manager Football Operations, Mark Evans, was delighted to announce the three signings, as players continue to commit themselves to the Club.

“These players have all shown a strong commitment to the Hawthorn Football Club and it’s great to be able to reward them with a similar commitment by the Club,” said Evans.

“The next four-five years looks very promising for our Club and it is very important to keep our playing group together. Whilst this continues to be a challenge for all clubs we have established a strong team-culture at our Club and it’s great that these three young men have committed themselves to our future.”
