This year, the Puma Running Spring Summer collection embraces the spirit of lightness. Designed for progressive and avid runners, as well as those who place importance on technical performance, the collection features the new
Vectana and
Velosis footwear which boast a blend of function and style.
According to Nikki Quigley, Hawthorn Football Club head podiatrist; "The new Puma Velosis and Vectana performance running shoes have received exceptional feedback from Hawthorn Football Club players and staff since they started wearing them in July.
The new shoes have improved fit and comfort compared to previous Puma running shoes, due to the superior cushioning materials and design. The main feedback received has been the 'smooth ride', which is due to the toe-spring design. This enhances propulsion, so makes it easier to move up onto your toes as you push off when running. The shoes also have improved durability for athletes who due high running volumes, such as the Hawthorn players in the preseason. The difference between the Velosis and the Vectana, is the Vectana has a medial post, which is for feet that pronate (roll inwards). The new runners are designed to accommodate orthotics if they are worn, and feedback so far is they fit well."
"Each Hawthorn Football Club player has a Podiatry screening in the preseason, to assess the type of foot they have, and their running shoes are issued specifically for the individual. A pronated foot is a foot that rolls inwards and has a flatter arch. These feet require extra support through the medial (inside) part of the shoe, and are suited to the Vectana. Neutral feet, which do not roll inwards, are suited to the Velosis. "
