It is unclear if Young is still one of the club's best 22. His run and carry and penetrating left-foot kicking were important ingredients in the club’s premiership surge of 2008, but have been lacking since. In 2011, ankle and hamstring complaints restricted him to just 10 games and he was not fit enough to take part in Hawthorn’s finals tilt. Needs continuity through the summer to regain his place in the club’s best 22.
