The hard-working defender joins the Hawks in the prime of his career after finishing fifth in North Melbourne’s best and fairest in a tight count last year. Usually an undersized key defender, he spent increasing time in the midfield in a run-with/shutdown role on some of the best playmakers in the game. Boasts the rare versatility to tag athletic types such as Matthew Pavlich and Adam Goodes, regardless of whether they play in the middle or in attack. Played every game and averaged 17.4 disposals, including a career-best 31 touches in the round 17 loss to the Brisbane Lions. Was awarded three Brownlow Medal votes in his last game for the Roos.
