The superstar overcame niggling injuries and early suspensions to put in an excellent and entertaining season for the Hawks with 64 goals – including the goal of the year against Essendon in round 13 – and 22 contested marks. Trimmer and fitter in 2010, Franklin was occasionally released into the midfield to good effect, while his leadership abilities continued to develop. Signed a three-year contract extension to remain with the Hawks last May.

Draft history: 2004 NAB AFL Draft 1st round selection (Hawthorn) No. 5 overall.
