Shaun Burgoyne will be sidelined through the pre-season competition following a low-grade tear to his hamstring. Burgoyne, who was set to make his Hawks debut in the final round of the pre-season challenge, will now look to the early rounds of the home and away season to run out for the Hawks.
Scans have revealed that the injury, which occurred at the end of team training on Wednesday, was not as bad as first thought.
Hawthorn’s General Manger Football Operations Mark Evan said the Club will be conservative in its approach to the injury but does not think it will see the Hawks midfielder miss too much football.
“He felt a grab at back at hammy toward end of training,” said Evans.
“A scan showed later today that he had a low grade tear.
“The original plan was to play Shaun in round four of the pre-season program but now that wont obviously happen. The Club does not expect it to be a lengthy delay though.”
