About the Thornbirds










Founded over 30 years ago, the Thornbirds is an in-house social group of female Hawthorn supporters and their friends.

Our aim is to keep costs down so everyone is able to attend and enjoy our functions. We raise modest amounts of money by way of our varied functions, generally benefiting Hawthorn Football Club, related projects and outside charities.

The Thornbirds are actively involved with:

  • The Annual Goal Kicking award
  • Sponsorship of two players – Michael Osborne and Isaac Smith
  • Transferable Family Membership – Membership is to be used at the discretion of the Club
  • Contributions to charities as the needs occur

The Thornbirds annual membership fee of $25 includes a discount to all functions and a bi-monthly newsletter (archived below).

Our monthly morning coffees provide good company and friendship at the price of a cup of coffee and cake.

Morning coffees are on the last Friday of the month at 10.15am between March and November.
