About the Thornbirds










Founded over 30 years ago, the Thornbirds is an in-house social group, comprised of female Hawthorn supporters and their friends, while men are welcome at some of our events.

We raise modest amounts of money by way of our varied functions; generally benefiting Hawthorn Football Club related projects and outside charities.

The Thornbirds are actively involved with:

  • The annual goal kicking award
  • Sponsorship of a player; this year, Brent Guerra
  • Transferrable Family Memberships, for any family unable to provide their own
  • Contributions to charities as the needs occur
  • Supporting the Box Hill Football Club

The Thornbirds annual Membership fee of $25 includes a members’ discount to all functions and a bi-monthly newsletter (archived below).

Come along to our informal monthly coffee morning, on the last Friday of the month, between March and November at:
