The wet weather didn’t faze Mitch Lewis at the MCG on Sunday, with the big man reigning supreme as the side’s fan-voted MVP against Collingwood.

Lewis was a dominant force in the Hawks loss to the Pies, kicking a game-high four goals and recording a team-high seven score involvements.  

The 23-year-old has kicked at least three goals in seven of his nine games he has played this season, his biggest being a career-best five goals against Port Adelaide in Round 2.

Only three players – Charlie Curnow, Tom Lynch, Jeremy Cameron – have averaged more goals per game this season than Lewis.

After an impressive season in 2021, Lewis has continued to hone his craft as a developing key forward this year.

The youngster had a brilliant start to the year prior to his injury in hamstring in Round 6.

But his return since has been arguably just as good, averaging three goals per game in the last four rounds, including two games of four. 

Regardless of the setback, he has already kicked more goals in nine games this year than he did for the entire of 2021. 

Only early on in his football journey, there's plenty still to come from Lewis.
