Jai Newcombe has taken out Hawthorn’s Round 20 MVP for his commendable performance during his side’s 12-point loss to St Kilda on Saturday.

After the Hawks were slow to start, the 20-year-old was critical in getting the brown and gold back in the game with his impact across the forward half.

While Saint Marcus Windhager limited his influence on the game in the first half, Newcombe was able to breakout in the third term to become a threat inside 50, kicking two goals across the second half.

He finished the game with 21 disposals – including an equal team-high 11 contested possessions – and seven score involvements.

But arguably most impressively, the pressure he brought upon the Saints players was remarkable – he recorded 32 pressure acts – the most of anyone on the ground.
