The Box Hill Hawks edged closer to securing finals football last weekend, recording a 51-point victory over Frankston at SkyBus Stadium.

The result - which was the Hawks third win in a row - now takes them to sixth on the VFL ladder.

Hawthorn Development Coach Andy Otten has again provided a review of how each AFL-listed Hawk performed on the day.

Liam Shiels (31 disposals, 1 goal, 11 tackles, 11 clearances)

"Pup had an outstanding game for us. He lead well, he’s just so important for this team. He sets the scene, especially with his actions. He played his role for us in the midfield, won 11 clearances - including five centre clearances, 31 touches and 11 tackles. He was a standout for us on the day, he was clean around the footy and uses his strong body so well. He’s just invaluable for us when he plays."

Tom Phillips (25 disposals, 1 goal)

"Tom was playing really well, he had a really high work rate was working the ground well, but unfortunately he got injured in the third and hurt his knee pretty badly. So that’s pretty unfair for Flip because he was going strong, he kicked a really important goal for us as well. So we were sad to lose him."

Max Ramsden (21 disposals, 1 goal, 11 hitouts)

"Maxy had his best game for the year by a mile with 21 touches, five marks and a goal. He was able to combine his aerial work with his cleanliness on the ground, his slick hands and especially his ruck follow up. He played with this new confidence, which we need to harness and keep building on, so hopefully we can replicate that for the rest of the year. He was outstanding."

Daniel Howe (20 disposals)

"Howey played a really solid game for us. He started down back as we had a few late outs due to COVID-19. But he slotted in well down there and lead with his voice and instruction. He then moved to the wing later in the game. He got the ball in his hands and used it really well."

Jackson Callow (3 goals, 19 disposals, 8 marks)

"Callow also had his best game for a couple of months. He kicked three goals and had 19 touches. Him and Rama were really potent for us up forward. I think his intent to move and and get going was much better this week. He was able to get some strong contests and take some contested marks, which he is kind of creating as his trademark. His follow up with his ground balls due to a bit more work rate to get some more contests was great as well. Three goals was a great result for him."

Jack Saunders (2 goals, 16 disposals, 5 tackles)

"Saundo looked super dangerous in our forward half this week. His speed really troubled the opposition. Not only defensively to help out, but offensively to get forward. He had a few shots on goal, to get some scoreboard reward with two goals was great. He was very damaging for us. He’s been concentrating on his tackling and getting some more contests to lay more tackles - he finished with five which is the most he has laid as well. So he’s ticking off some of the goals he’s setting during games which is great to see."

Ned Long (12 disposals)

"Ned played on the wing for us all game and part of playing on the wing is just learning the patterns and getting used to running them over and over again. So Ned's starting to do that really well. He probably would've liked to get his hands on more of the footy. It's a really skinny ground Frankston so the wings probably aren't as important. So on grounds like that, we'd love him to play with a bit more instinct and hunt when the balls in his half. But in terms of what we're asking of him with these running patterns, he's doing that a really high level."

Fionn O'Hara (4 disposals)

"Fionn defended really well for us. He kept his man really quiet all day. Just his offensive creative run probably wasn't quite there this week, but we'll look at the tape with him and look at ways he can keep getting his hands on the footy. He got a bit sore late as well, so hopefully he'll be alright after that."
