Three days into pre-season with the entire squad back, the players completed the 2km time trial at Box Hill City Oval on Wednesday morning.

In overcast conditions unlike the previous two days that were hot and sunny, the players endured a heavy track due the overnight rain.

There was no surprise as Isaac Smith raced out to the lead early but with draftee Billy Hartung keeping close.

Bradley Hill, also known for his aerobic capacity also featured near the front, while Liam Shiels, Ben Stratton, Ben McEvoy, Sam Grimley, Alex Woodward, Will Langford, Matt Suckling, Ryan Schoenmakers and Jordan Lewis were among those to impress.

Smith broke away from Hartung as the final lap began and ran out the eventual winner but the young draftee was a close second from third-placed Hill.
