Will Langford has drawn the positives after Box Hill’s Round 7 top-of-the-table VFL clash against Port Melbourne finished at an all-square stalemate.

Box Hill led Port Melbourne by 16 points heading into the final quarter, but were forced to hold off the rampant opposition as they stormed home with six final-quarter goals.

With two minutes to go, Port Melbourne found themselves in front but, after winning multiple telling contests, Box Hill edged the scores back to even as the final siren sounded soon after.

“It was a tough game that’s what we expect, it’s a bit disappointing I suppose but it’s one up from a loss,” Langford told Channel 7 post-match.

“Full credit to the boys, I thought the effort they put in today was first-class.”

Langford was omitted from the senior side following the Round 9 loss to Collingwood, but would have been buoyed by his 30-possession, three-goal, six-tackle performance on the weekend.

“It was disappointing to go out of the AFL side, but I was actually quite excited to come down here against Port Melbourne.

“I’m just looking to do my best and we will see what’s best for the team next week and going forward.”
