As we celebrate the skipper's 250th game milestone, we're going back over the records to try and pinpoint our favourite Jarryd Roughead game.

An impossible task, we know, but we've managed to reduce the list to five spine-tingling performances.

Which one gets your vote?

Round 6 2009

Hawthorn 16.10 106 def Carlton 15.12 102

Amidst his fifth year in the AFL system, Jarryd Roughead had already become known as one of the premiere forwards of the competition.

Having kicked 75 goals in a premiership year in 2008, Roughead again exploded in the first five weeks of the 2009 season to kick 16 goals over that period.

In Round 6, Roughead continued his strong run of form, booting eight goals against Carlton to help the Hawks get over the line by four points.

The 22-year old Roughead was instrumental in the Hawks’ third win of the season, gathering 20 disposals and 11 marks to go with his massive haul.

Round 12 2014

Hawthorn 19.9 123 def West Coast 12.7 79

Roughead kicked eight goals for a second time in his career in Round 12 2014.

In front of adoring fans at University of Tasmania Stadium, Roughead earned three Brownlow votes on the day for his outstanding effort in front of goals.

The number two was a force all over the ground, impacting with his 24 disposals, eight goals, six tackles and five inside 50s.

Roughead was especially dominant in the game’s second term, kicking four goals for the quarter.

2014 Grand Final

Hawthorn 21.11 137 def Sydney 11.8 74

Despite the 2014 Grand Final’s build-up being predominantly about his former teammate Lance Franklin, it was Roughead’s day in all aspects as the Hawk star was the most dominant forward on the ground.

Winning his third premiership medallion, Roughead finished with a game-high five goals as the Hawks ran rampant over a struggling Sydney outfit.

Interestingly, Roughead’s first goal of the game came in the dying moments of the opening half with his other four goals coming in a glorious second half.

Round 7 2015

Hawthorn 24.11 155 def Melbourne 7.8 50

Hawthorn were at the peak of their powers in 2015, having won the previous two premierships and on route to a third consecutive flag.

Their dominance continued in Round 7 as they thumped a depleted Demons outfit to the tune of 105 points.

Roughead was the best player on the ground, earning the three Brownlow votes as he recorded 30 possessions for the first time in his career.

Roughead’s influence was also felt in front of goal, as he booted four goals for the rampaging Hawks side.

It was one of two occasions so far in his career that ‘Roughy’ has collected 30 disposals and the seventh of eight times he has been awarded the full quota of Brownlow votes.

Round 1 2017

Essendon 17.14 116 def Hawthorn 12.19 91

Despite the game’s result not being an ideal outcome for the Hawthorn faithful, this date will nevertheless forever be looked upon fondly by all football fans alike.

Having spent the entire 2016 season on the sidelines battling a melanoma, Roughead officially returned to the game on this night in what was one of the most emotional moments in football history.

Roughead kicked two goals on the night and laid six tackles in what will be reflected as one of the most special times of his glittering 13-year career.
