Hawthorn midfielder Tom Mitchell has received his maiden All Australian selection.

At the Virgin Australia AFL All Australian Awards on Wednesday night, the 24-year-old was named in the midfield, alongside ruckman Paddy Ryder (Port Adelaide) and Patrick Dangerfield (Geelong).

Since switching from the Swans at the end of the 2016 season, Mitchell hasn’t missed a beat, collecting a record 787 disposals to lead the competition, and providing a cool and composed head within the new-look Hawthorn midfield.

Details on full team to come.
