Welcome to Finals Face Off, a play versus play tournament where you, the Hawthorn faithful, decide which finals moment will be left standing.

Hawthorn has been privileged and talented enough to play in an impressive 86 finals matches since 1957, Finals Face Off will pit a final draw of 16 momentous plays to compete in a knock out format for the mantle of fans’ favourite finals moment.

Each week day on hawthornfc.com.au we will reveal the next Face Off match, with voting open for 24 hours to decide which moment proceeds to the next round of the tournament.

Our first Face Off match sees two fan favourites pitted up against each other – Shane Crawford versus Will Langford.

Both are moments of skill, both end in brilliant goals, highlighting it was going to be the Hawks’ day.

Crawford’s goal is from the 2008 Preliminary Final against St Kilda. It was approaching half time when Crawford gathered the ball at half forward of the Punt Rd end, accelerating towards the boundary, before drilling a brilliant goal.

Anthony Hudson asked the question “Surely now” in commentary and Crawf celebrates with the crowd realising that the Hawks may have this won.

Will Langford had a day to remember in the 2014 Grand Final against Sydney. Whilst he had two goals on the board already, it is his third goal, late in the third term that is replayed again and again.

Langford managed to dispense Josh Kennedy and Luke Parker, and with nowhere to go, he dribbles the ball towards the goal. With Swans defender Heath Grundy on the goal line ready to intercept, the tumbling ball takes one last wicked bounce to launch over his head and go through for the goal.

Queue scenes of delirium from the Hawks faithful and the knowledge that a premiership would be ours.

Vote for your favourite goal now! The winner and our next Face Off will be revealed tomorrow.
