Fremantle superstar Nathan Fyfe's one-match ban has caused upheaval in the Brownlow Medal race, with Hawthorn jet Tom Mitchell the new favourite.

Fyfe is easily leading the AFL.com.au Brownlow predictor with 17 votes.

He sits ahead of Carlton star Patrick Cripps (14) and a group of five players on 11: Richmond duo Dustin Martin and Trent Cotchin, North Melbourne gun Shaun Higgins, Melbourne forward Jesse Hogan and prolific Western Bulldogs ball-winner Jack Macrae.

Mitchell however is the newly installed favourite and currently has a tally of 10 in the AFL.com.au predictor.

Where it's Stat: How the Hawks mustered a win

The Dockers will challenge the decision at the Tribunal on Tuesday, most likely arguing Fyfe's strike on midfielder Levi Greenwood was reckless rather than intentional.

Match Review Officer Michael Christian assessed the incident as low impact and high contact.

Fyfe took 'Charlie' home in 2015.
