Where it's 'stat': Season-high spread

Goals of the Week: Round 19 Check out the goals of the week from the Hawks win over Freo.

What made Hawthorn’s performance in their 59-point demolition of Fremantle on Sunday was their dominance on both the offensive and defensive ends.

The Hawks registered a triple-digit score while restricting their opposition to less than 60 points for the third time in the past four weeks.

Amidst a finals race where percentage will prove all-important, Alastair Clarkson’s side has improved theirs from a 10th-ranked 113.2 a month ago to 122.7 today, now the third-best in the competition.

The offensive propensity of a side can be judged in many ways, but one thing coaches often harp on is the ability to find a spread of goalkickers.

Watch: The Hawks' best goals against Freo

Across the season Hawthorn have been strong in this area, with three players in Luke Breust (45 goals), Jack Gunston (35) and Jarryd Roughead (27) having kicked at least 27 goals on the year.

Collingwood are the only side to have more than the Hawks in this area (four) while West Coast also have three players in this category.

But on Sunday the Hawks went to another level with their spread of goalkickers, having a season-high 11 players boot a major against the Dockers.

Led by Breust who kicked four goals, the Hawks’ number of avenues towards goal simply overwhelmed Ross Lyon’s side.

Interestingly, Essendon, the Hawks’ Round 20 opponents, were the only other side in the competition last week to register such a range of goalkickers.

Might a shoot-out be upon us in this all-important clash between two of footy’s fiercest rivals this Saturday?
