Hawthorn has booked itself a place in the VFLW Grand Final, following an impressive 11-point win over Collingwood at Stannards Stadium on Saturday.

The Hawks led at every change as they proved too strong for the minor premiers.

Captain Emma Mackie was among the side’s best, kicking three of the Hawks’ five goals.

Mackie said the Round 5 loss to the Magpies earlier this year proved a primary cause of motivation for the side in the semi-final.

“The loss to them during the season really hurt us,” Mackie said.

“We were out for revenge today.

“We just needed to tick this one off again and get to the Grand Final.”

Having won their last three games of the home and away season, Mackie said the team’s performance was a continuation of what had been a strong run of form.

“We’ve been building,” the reigning best and fairest winner said.

“From the second half of the season into finals, it has felt like we have been building and building as we go.

“The small things we are working on and bringing together all just felt on today.”

The Hawks will now enjoy a week off and watch on as Collingwood and Geelong do battle to decide who will challenge them in the Grand Final.

The Pies will face the Cats at Stannards Stadium on Sunday at 11:45, while the Grand Final will be at Etihad Stadium at midday the following Sunday.
