Changkuoth Jiath

The 20-year-old Category B rookie will make his debut against the Giants after being elevated to the senior list this week.

It’s CJ’s second season at Hawthorn having played in a VFL premiership with Box Hill last season and 12 games with the Hawks’ VFL affiliate so far in 2019.

CJ averages 14 possessions and five marks a game and describes himself as an “intercepting defender coming off the half back”.

His athleticism and aerial abilities make him exciting to watch.

Heath Shaw

The 33-year-old was the best of the Giants’ defenders when these two teams last met in Round 8 this season.

The veteran defender collected the most disposals for his team (30) and helped turn his team’s defence to attack with nine rebound 50s.

The last-line defender is full of experience and leadership and is a key component of the Giants’ back six.

Paul Puopolo

When Poppy kicked his goal last week he must have breathed a sigh of relief.

The small crumbing forward has had a quiet few weeks, scoring one goal in his past seven outings.

Now that the drought has been broken, let’s hope the floodgates open and Poppy has a field day.

Tom Scully

Even though this isn’t the first time he has faced his old club, it will be the first time he plays in front of his old home crowd.

The Canberra crowd will certainly be keeping an eye on Scully in his new colours.

Scully will feel comfortable running out onto University of New South Wales Oval having played there previously on 17 occasions.

So far his win-loss ratio is 1-0 against his old team. Hopefully it’s 2-0 by the end of the night.

Tim Taranto

Since being taken by the Giants at number 2 in the 2016 draft, Taranto’s game has gone from strength to strength.

Now in his third season, Taranto’s numbers are the best they’ve ever been as the 21-year-old continues to grow in confidence.

The onballer has only missed one game this season and averages a career-high 28 disposals a game.

He’s just signed a contract extension to stay with the Giants until the end of 2022.

Will the Hawks be able to stop this youngster whose confidence is sky high?
