Hawthorn Football Club and BankVic are passionate about recognising the ordinary people doing extraordinary things in their communities. BankVic is the bank for Police, Health and Emergency Services, and will present a champion from the Emergency Services sector to be celebrated at each Hawthorn home game, with their story to be shared via hawthornfc.com.au.

In this spotlight this week is….

Anthony Jones.

Anthony Jones has spent the past 19-and-a-half years working in the emergency services sector at ESTA 000.

Jones started off as an ambulance call-taker in the late 1990s before moving into fire dispatchment.

He then went on to become an Assistant Team Leader in the fire department and later an Acting Assistant Centre Manager.

Jones said his job is one that is highly rewarding.

"We handle all of the triple-0 calls from the state of Victoria and look after the police, the fire and the ambulance," Jones said.

"We coordinate with them and we communicate to them and help them out every day."

Over his career he has won a National Emergency Medal for his services throughout the Victorian Bushfires as well as being honoured with an ESTA Service Awards and two Professionalism Awards.
