Over the course of the next six weeks, Hawthorn will be putting fans in the coaches box and giving them a unique opportunity to choose their ultimate line-up of each decade since 1960.

Those who enter at least one team during the competition will go into the draw to win a 2019 team signed guernsey.

The next decade in the spotlight: the ‘70s.

Here’s a few highlights to jog your memory…

It took the Hawks exactly 10 years from when they got their first piece of silverware in 1961 to add another cup to their collection.

Hawthorn’s 1971 grand final win over St Kilda was the beginning of what would be a three-premiership decade for the brown and gold.

The ‘70s were also the start of long rivalry between the Kangaroos and Hawks.

The two clubs fought it out in 10 finals, with Hawthorn defeating North on six of those occasions including the ’76 and ’78 grand finals.

Over the 10 years the side was lead by three captains in David Parkin, Peter Crimmins and Don Scott.

Scott, Crimmins and other big names including Rodney Eade made for a dangerous decade of midfielders, while Parkin, Robert DiPierdomenico and Peter Knights were some of the Hawks' forces down back.

Up forward, the Hawks were ably served by household names in Leigh Matthews and Peter Hudson. The pair booted a combined 922 goals throughout the decade.
