Don’t be surprised if you see Mathew Walker show his wares in the brown and gold this season.

At the club’s season launch on Tuesday night, GM-Football Graham Wright was asked to nominate a young Hawk who was set to make his debut in 2019.

“I thought Mat Walker was really impressive on the weekend,” Wright said.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if he debuts this year.”

In limited game-time against Brisbane in the club’s first JLT Series hit-out on Sunday, Walker showed a strong level of composure at the level, recording seven touches, four marks, one tackle and a goal.

The 19-year-old’s highlight came early in the third quarter when he pulled down a strong contested mark inside forward 50 before calmly slotting through his first major in the brown and gold.

Keep your eyes peeled, Hawks fans.
