In his first year at the Hawks after coming across from St Kilda, Darren Minchington had a promising 2019 ahead of him.

The small forward had been unlucky during his time at the Saints, only managing 28 games in his five years at the club due to a series of injuries.

This year, the 25-year-old was nearing a debut in the brown and gold, being named as emergency for the senior side in Round 18 against Geelong.

But it wasn’t meant to be for Minchington, who suffered a hamstring injury in Box Hill Hawks’ Round 16 loss to Richmond.

With these injury woes, Minchington only played eight games in the VFL, where he averaged 10.5 disposals and kicked four goals.
