Hawthorn's midfield line-up is already looking extremely deep and capable with multiple premiership players, Peter Crimmins Medallist and All Australians among the cohort.

But Jaeger O'Meara is tipping another special ingredient to be added to the mix.

Chad Wingard isn't a complete stranger to the on-ball brigade but O'Meara thinks Hawks fans may see a lot more of the two-time All Australian forward in the middle of the ground in 2020.

“We saw what he could do towards the back end of last year - he adds a bit of a different mix," O'Meara told RSN on Friday.

"He’s been training with the midfield group for the pre-season.

“He’s pretty exciting, he can take the game on.”

And the other addition to the Hawks midfield in 2020?

A bloke by the name of Tom Mitchell.

“Getting a player back of Tom’s calibre is going to help us all.

“He (Mitchell) is tracking along nicely. We’ve got an intra-club practice match tonight and he’s playing.

“He’s ready to roll. So we’ll see how he goes.”
