Hawthorn VFLW will be looking to continue its winning form when the side takes on Essendon at The Hangar on Saturday.

The Hawks registered their first win of the season last week, overcoming Darebin by 23 points

Former Magpie Katherine Newton is set to pull on the brown and gold jumper for the first time this weekend, while Alex Cuss also returns to the side after recovering from a hamstring injury.

The talented Dominique Carbone has also reclaimed her place in the side after helping her hometown club the Darwin Buffaloes to a Northern Territory Football League grand final berth last weekend.

The race to the VFLW finals is already shaping up to be a tightly contested one, with only two of the 12 sides, Port Melbourne and Collingwood, winning both of their games in the opening fortnight of the season.

Get down to The Hangar this Saturday at 11am to watch our girls do battle with the Bombers!
