Box Hill Coach Sam Mitchell has taken a look over the AFL-listed Hawks who took to the field in the side's first win of the season against the Northern Bullants.

A seven-goal second term set up a resound 56-point win for the Hawks.

Mitchell said he was buoyed by the team's ability to adapt over the course of the game.

"We started slowly in the early stages of the game despite perfect conditions at Box Hill," Mitchell said.

"The most pleasing part of the game was our ability to make alterations throughout the game, with our defenders able to have a much stronger impact as the game progressed.

"Our midfield was also able to right the ship after losing the first seven centre clearances of the game.

"When the rain came in the third term, we were really able to hit our straps and play some strong footy throughout the latter parts of the game."

Why Clarko would suggest a week is a long time in footy

Here's Sam's review of each of the 10 Hawks:

Emerson Jeka (20 disposals, 9 marks, 5 goals)

"Jeka was the stand-out player of the day with 5.2 to his name. Most pleasing in his game was his ability to push up between the arcs which enabled him to get 20 possessions as well as a handful of score assists. His field kicking was also a highlight."

Lachlan Bramble (17 disposals, 2 marks, 3 tackles)

"He had 14 touches and seven clearances in the second quarter alone before injuring himself just before half-time. He was easily the best player on the field to that point, playing at an AFL standard. He will take confidence from that performance when he makes his return."

Ned Reeves (16 disposals, 54 hit-outs, 1 goal)

"His first half was quite poor in comparison to the standards he has set in previous weeks. But he was able to reset himself at half-time and have a really strong second half. We were really happy with his response and ability to fight his way back into the game."

Conor Nash (14 disposals, 5 marks, 4 tackles, 2 goals)

"Conor started slowly but came into the game well in the second half. He was a strong component of our front half make-up."

Keegan Brooksby (13 disposals, 4 marks, 24 hit-outs, 2 goals)

"Keegan played forward and ruck. He kicked 2.2 and made a solid contribution. After an interrupted pre-season, he is starting to come into some strong form."

Harry Pepper (13 disposals, 4 inside 50s, 4 rebound 50s)

"Harry took a big step forward. He was strong in his one-on-one contests across the game. He drove his legs well on the day and was able to create some of our forward thrusts."

Josh Morris (10 disposals, 1 tackle)

"Tank had some missed opportunities and probably wasn't as clean as he would have liked. He played a little bit higher up the ground and, if he made the most of his opportunities, he probably could have had a more significant impact. He is looking o take his game to another level in the coming weeks."

Damon Greaves (9 disposals, 1 tackle)

"Damon Greaves was very pleasing. He had a shutdown role on one of their dangerous small forwards and did a great job with that. He made some excellent goal-saving acts and he has grown into his more defensive role in recent weeks. He is also appearing ready for AFL level when his chance arises."

Jack Saunders (9 disposals, 3 tackles, 1 goal)

"Jack continues to be a work in progress. His highlights package shows plenty of speed as well as being able to play a defensive forward role for periods of the game. He is continuing to develop his game understanding."

Tyler Brockman (2 disposals, 1 mark, 1 tackle)

"He had a minor injury early in the game that hindered his ability to play out the remainder of the game. He did a couple of nice things early on."

And some of the best Box Hill-listed guys?

Trent Mynott was able to finish with 11 tackles and 11 clearances after a slow start to the game which was pleasing.

Damian Mascitti played in the backend and his leadership, composure and his experience in playing the conditions was a stand-out.

Vincent Adduci was really strong playing as a small forward. He's been working hard on his crumbing and got some reward for that effort. He put on mountains of pressure in our forward 50."
