Hawthorn's women's football program has continued to thrive with 11 of its VFLW players being drafted to AFLW clubs across the past three years.

In 2019, the Hawks boasted the largest draft export of any VFLW club with eight Hawks finding new homes at the elite level with other AFLW teams.

At the 2021 AFLW Draft on Tuesday night, Hawthorn added to its tally with three players on the list getting snapped up, including two who were selected in the top 12.

Ashanti Bush was taken by Gold Coast at Pick 8, Keeley Sherar at Pick 11 by Carlton and Eloise Chaston went to Collingwood after being taken at Pick 32.

Here’s a look at where the Hawks alumni from the 2019 draft are now.

Rosie Dillon

Pick 24 – St Kilda

Dillon - one of the league's most talented players - has come a long way from when she first arrived at the Hawks in 2017 to join the side's inaugural VFLW team.

Her accolades during her time at the Hawks included earning a selection in the 2019 VFLW Team of the Year, winning the club's best and fairest in 2019, while also taking on the role as the Hawks vice-captain.

After three year's in the brown and gold, including being in the side's 2018 premiership win, she was drafted by St Kilda AFLW in 2019.

The hard-hitting midfielder was a joint winner of the Saints inaugural best and fairest last year.

Laura McClelland

Pick 25 – Richmond

The U18s All Australian was taken by Richmond with its second selection at the 2019 AFLW Draft (Pick 25 overall).

The former Eastern Ranges captain signed with Hawthorn at the start of the 2019 VFLW season, before being taken by Richmond in the AFLW draft later that year.

She made her debut against Carlton at Ikon Park in the opening round of the 2020 season.

Tamara Luke

Pick 33 - St Kilda

After making the switch from netball to football in 2017, the Leongatha recruit was one of Hawthorn VFLW’s stars over the past three seasons.

Luke was appointed as the brown and gold’s captain in 2019 after two seasons as vice captain.

After being selected in the 2019 AFLW draft, Luke made senior debut in 2020, before being delisted earlier this year.

She returned to play in the Hawks VFLW side for the 2021 season.

Luke's 42 games for the Hawks is the highest number tallied by any female Hawk, with 36 of those matches coming consecutively.

Serena Gibbs

Pick 44 - Carlton

Gibbs played six matches for Hawthorn's VFLW side in 2019.

In 2020, she focused on developing her football skills and gym work, before making her AFLW debut this year in Round 5 against North Melbourne.

She signed a one-year contract extension with Carlton last month.

Jordan Membrey

Pick 74 – Collingwood

When Membrey joined Collingwood, it was the third time in three years that she had been drafted to an AFLW club.

Her football career first began back in 2017 when she was recruited to Brisbane Lions as a free agent.

She played five games for the Lions before being picked up by Collingwood the following year.

Playing three games for the Pies in 2018, Membrey made the return back to Hawthorn where she was named best on ground on multiple occasions throughout the 2019 season.

Talia Radan

Pick 92 – West Coast

The leading premiership defender decided to hang up the boots last year following a four-year stint in the AFLW.

Radan played 16 games at the highest level, representing Adelaide (2017-18), Melbourne (2019) and West Coast (2020).

She was recruited to West Coast with pick No.92 in the 2019 AFLW Draft after a stint with Hawthorn VFLW.

Chantella Perera

Pick 101 – West Coast

Perera, who hailed from Hawthorn’s VFLW team, became an inaugural member of the Eagles AFLW side making her debut in Round 1 of the 2020 season.

The former Australian basketball star was delisted by West Coast this year and returned home to again play with Hawthorn for the 2021 VFLW season.
