Shaun Burgoyne will move into stand-alone third place on the VFL/AFL all-time games played list when he runs out against Brisbane at UTAS Stadium on Sunday.

The 38-year-old will return to the starting 22 this weekend after being the side's medical substitute in Round 19 against Adelaide.

The match will be Burgoyne's 404th, leaving just Brent Harvey (432 games) and Michael Tuck (426) ahead of him.

Conor Nash has also been recalled to the senior side after performing strongly in the reserves scrimmage games over the past fortnight.

Head of Football Rob McCartney said the side was determined to finish the campaign strongly as the Hawks entered the final month of the home and away season.

"We've seen some really good signs this year from our group," McCartney said.

"With that, has also come some inconsistencies which can be expected from a young group.

"I know our boys are really focussed on putting together a really complete finish to our year and that starts this week against a really good side in the Lions."

James Cousins (hamstring) and Jacob Koschitzke (rested) are the two that will make way for the incoming pair of Burgoyne and Nash.

Hawthorn Captain Ben McEvoy will play his 150th game in the brown and gold this weekend.

The two-time premiership Hawk is amidst his eighth campaign in the brown and gold, joining the club at the end of 2013 season after six years and 91 games with St Kilda.
