Rising young forward Mitch Lewis has committed his future to Hawthorn, signing a new contract extension that will keep him in the brown and gold for a further four years.

The freshly-inked deal will see Lewis tied to the club until at least the end of the 2026 season.

The 199cm Wallan product joined the Hawks as a raw but talented prospect in the 2016 national draft, with the club nabbing him at Pick 76 – the second last selection on the night.

After debuting a season later in Round 9 2018, Lewis has since booted 70 goals in 44 games for Hawthorn.

Having only turned 23 last October, Lewis is quickly establishing himself among the most exciting key forwards in the AFL.

This year, the straight shooter has kicked three or more majors on seven occasions, including a career-high haul of five in Round 2.

Hawthorn National List & Recruiting Manager Mark McKenzie was delighted to secure Lewis with the long-term deal.

“We are thrilled to see Mitch commit to the club for at least the next four years,” McKenzie said.

“We think Mitch’s desire to remain with the Hawks is a reflection of the culture and environment that continues to build as well as the optimism that surrounds our future.

“Mitch has shown some significant progress over the last 12 months, particularly through this year’s pre-season, to become one of Hawthorn’s most consistent forwards.

“This deal highlights Mitch’s hunger for success at Hawthorn, and we look forward to seeing him further his craft in the brown and gold.”
