For the second straight year, Hawthorn will feature in an array of bumper prime-time games as part of its 2026 Toyota AFL premiership fixture, as revealed by the league on Thursday.
The Hawks faithful will see their team under prime-time lights in eight of the first 15 matches of the season, in addition to three twilight fixtures.
The first block of games is headlined by a massive Thursday night home opener at the MCG in Round 2 when the Hawks host the Swans.
Just a few weeks later, the Hawks will go head-to-head with the Cats at the MCG for the traditional Easter Monday blockbuster in what shapes to be a mouth-watering re-match of the 2025 Preliminary Final.
The massive MCG home contests don’t finish there — with the Hawks set to do battle with the Dogs on a Friday night in Round 13.

Rounding out the home MCG contests are games against GWS, Essendon and Collingwood — setting the Hawks up for a thrilling run home when the remainder of the floating fixture is released by the AFL next year.
Marking Hawthorn’s 25th year in Tasmania, UTAS Stadium will host a Thursday night blockbuster against Adelaide, following last year’s thrilling victory at UTAS Stadium and semi-final triumph at Adelaide Oval.
This match also marks one of two special rounds featuring in Launceston next year, with Hawthorn’s Round 7 match against Gold Coast being played on ANZAC Day during the AFL’s ANZAC Appeal Round.
In yet another grudge match, the Hawks will be part of the AFL’s Opening Round for the second consecutive season in a twilight battle against the Giants, as the Hawks aim to recreate the magical 2025 Elimination Final win.
Queensland and Western Australian fans have been rewarded for their loyalty with two opportunities to watch Hawthorn in action, thanks to fixtures at People First Stadium against Gold Coast in Round 15 and Brisbane at the Gabba in Round 22, as well as matches against Fremantle and West Coast at Optus Stadium in Rounds 9 and 24, respectively.
Rounding out the fixture is a home Saturday twilight match-up at Marvel Stadium as the Hawks welcome the Power to town in what promises to be yet another anticipated meeting between the two sides.
Hawthorn CEO Ash Klein welcomed the club’s exciting 2026 Toyota AFL Premiership Season fixture.
“Off the back of a thrilling 2025 campaign, our loyal Hawthorn members and fans have been rewarded for turning up and signing up in record numbers, with a number of exciting matches in prime-time slots fixtured for a highly anticipated 2026 season,” Klein said.
“With footy under lights for eight of the club’s first 15 matches, it highlights not only the hype and excitement generated by our members and fans but also the must-watch footy the Hawks are displaying on the field.
“This includes a massive home opener at the MCG against the Swans in Round 2, followed by the blockbuster traditional Easter Monday clash against the Cats. With more home MCG games against the Giants, Bombers and Pies, there will be no shortage of action for the Hawthorn faithful to choose from in 2026.
“Following incredible success under lights at UTAS Stadium last season, it is fantastic to reunite with our dedicated Tasmanian members and fans for a Thursday night blockbuster against Adelaide, before hosting a further three home matches for what will mark the club’s special 25th year in Tasmania.
“As always, we have been blown away by the support of our brown and gold faithful, with more than 50,000 members already signing up for the 2026 season in record time, ensuring they have the best access to every game in next year’s exciting fixture.
“With the club moving to its transformational new home, the Kennedy Community Centre, our AFLW team reaching a semi-final for the second straight year and our AFL program returning to pre-season training in just a matter of weeks, momentum is rapidly building for 2026, and we encourage those who are yet to sign up as a member to join the Hawthorn family as we continue our exciting brown and gold journey into another big year.”
As per previous seasons, Hawthorn members will have access to four Melbourne replacement games to make up for the Tasmanian matches. The Club will communicate these at a later date.
