Hawthorn's Victorian Wheelchair Football League (VWFL) and Community Wheelchair Football League (VWFL) teams both suffered their second defeats of the season, this time at the hands of Essendon on Sunday at the State Netball Hockey Centre in Round 3.
With the Hawks coming off a bye and previous losses to Richmond, they were determined to notch up their first wins of the season.
However, it wasn't to be as Essendon's VWFL and CWFL teams proved too strong.
In the VWFL, the Hawks got off to a convincing start with three goals to five in the first term.
The Bombers dominated from there though with the brown and gold only able to add another two majors for the rest of the game.
Pleasingly, recruit Liam Fitzgerald scored four of the team's five goals as he continued his bright start to the season.
In the CWFL, their two goals were scored by reigning best and fairest winner David Ralph, who also continues to pick up where he left off this year.
The Hawks now turn their attention to St Kilda, who they face off against on Sunday afternoon at the State Netball Hockey Centre.
The VWFL team takes the court first at 1pm while the CWFL side follows at 2pm.
