HAWTHORN midfielder Liam Shiels could miss the Club's clash with Port Adelaide at Aurora Stadium on Sunday after being hit with a one-match ban for striking.
The AFL's Match Review Panel cited Shiels for a swinging arm that collected Geelong's Allen Christensen high during Friday night's nail biting loss to the Cats.
The incident was assessed by the Match Review Panel as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points).
That is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a level two offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction.
Given Shiels has an existing poor record of two matches suspended within the last three years, the penalty was increased by 20 per cent to 150 points and a one-match sanction.
An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 112.50 points and a one-match ban.
In better news for the Hawks, however, defender Brent Guerra has been cleared of any wrong-doing after he collided with Paul Chapman during the second quarter.
Guerra collected the football and collided with Chapman who jogged from the field after being assisted by Geelong trainers.
The Club will decide to contest or accept the charge on Tuesday.
