Hawthorn vice-captain Liam Shiels will be forced to prove his fitness ahead of Friday night’s clash with the Western Bulldogs.

Shiels was a late withdrawal from the game with Carlton on Saturday, after failing to overcome a corked hip.

It was the 26-year old’s first missed game of the season.

In the VFL, Harry Morrison was amongst Box Hill’s best performers in their loss to Port Melbourne.

Despite the Hawks suffering their second consecutive loss and third of the season, the first year thrived as he continued his new role in the midfield.

Morrison’s final chance to have a debut in his first year comes this week, after putting together a very solid first season at the Ricoh Centre.

Kade Stewart and Brendan Whitecross were also named amongst the top performers for the second-placed Box Hill, as they hunt their fifth and ninth games respectively for the season.
