Jaeger O’Meara has made some positive progress in his recovery, with the midfielder no longer experiencing any pain in his injured knee.

“Jaeger’s going really well,” said Elite Performance Manager Andrew Russell.

“He’s running well, he’s pain free, [the knee is] showing signs of healing which we are really pleased with.

“It’s on track for him to come back and play some footy towards the end of the season.”

The club has previously stated it would adopt a cautious approach with the midfielder, who is undergoing a solid conditioning block before making his return.

The Hawks will again be without premiership duo Paul Puopolo (groin) and Grant Birchall (knee) when they take on the Cats this week, as the pair continue their rehab.

“[Poppy] is running, he’s moving well, but he's not quite ready for change of direction yet.

“Birch’s knee is still a little bit sore. We’ll just keep assessing it week by week and hopefully get him back [before] the end of the year.”
