Finally realising his AFL dream after toiling away for seven years with Box Hill, Mirra had a strong debut season in 2018.

Mirra played in five of the opening 10 games of the AFL season, showing strength and a level of composure as he averaged 17.8 disposals and 5.4 marks.

Mirra’s other two senior games came in Round 23 against Sydney before he got a taste of AFL finals action in the semi final against Melbourne.

At VFL level, the 27-year-old’s form was outstanding as he was named in the Hawks’ best players in all bar three of his 14 appearances at the state league level.

This was all capped off as he claimed the Norm Goss medal for best afield in Box Hill’s 10-point, come-from-behind win over Casey, taking a game-high eight marks and picking up 18 disposals down back.
