HAWTHORN has announced the club’s members and fans will have the opportunity to design its next clash guernsey.

The club confirmed at Thursday night’s annual general meeting that its clash guernsey will make way for a new strip at the end of 2016, after two seasons.

Traditionally, the club has alternated clash guernseys every two years.

CEO Stuart Fox said the club was locked into wearing its current clash guernsey in 2016.

The Hawks wore their clash strip on four occasions in 2015 – against GWS Giants in Round 6, Adelaide Crows in Round 12, West Coast Eagles in Round 19 and again against the Eagles in a qualifying final.

The Hawks have a 2-2 win-loss record in the guernsey.

Fox announced the club will launch a competition on its website next year to decide on a new strip.

His early advice for prospective designers was:

"Don't come back to us with something that is just another version of brown and gold stripes. The requirement from the AFL is that it has to be predominately white, so that had to be the starting point.”
